Hollywood Lobbies For Industry Futures

Hollywood

In the biggest rip-off yet, Hollywood is lobbing the US Congress for industry futures to be traded on the stock market. Hollywood, a town built on organized crime seed money, thievery and criminal copyright infringement, seeks to offer the public the dubious opportunity to bet on the future performance of Hollywood films that most so-called industry executives can't even predict.

Considering movie audience attendance and music sales have steadily plummeted, prompting the industry to increase prices to show some kind of profit, while reaching less people with their products, banking on Hollywood is like wagering on the Titanic (and no, I'm not talking about the movie).

The fact of the matter is most Hollywood films and albums fail, ending up in the red. Studios and labels home for a few releases to do well, to save them from dozens of flops and financial failures. It is not like the food or airline industry in America, steadily packing in customers based on services people need.

Box-office futures are dealt a blow

April 22, 2010 - A Senate panel votes to ban the proposed futures exchanges, which are opposed by studios. Don't bet on betting on the box office.

A Senate committee dealt a big blow to the plans of two trading firms looking to create a box-office futures exchange that would allow the movie industry as well as investors to wager on movie ticket sales...

Sugababes CD Bombing

Sugababes

The new line-up of the musical trio the Sugababes, sans booted member, Keisha Buchanan, is bombing in Britain with their latest effort "Sweet 7." Midweek sales reveal the CD is on course to sell poorly, currently sitting outside the top 10, which is considered bad for an established, major label act.

As reported on the Judiciary Report several months ago, Buchanan was kicked out of the group for being dark skinned, something rapper Jay-Z, who signed them to a deal at his vile Roc Nation label, did not think would sell.

However, the public isn't as narrow minded as closed minded, color struck Jay-Z, voting with their feet and abandoning the Sugababes for this treachery and ignorance.

Chris Brown Gets Desperate

Sensing his career is in the toilet, woman beating Sony singer, Chris Brown, sent out a special plea to his fans proclaiming he is being blackballed in the industry and shunned by radio stations.

Rihanna and Chris Brown

His latest CD has not even gone gold, while his ex-girlfriend, Rihanna, is struggling to reach that 500,000 units sold mark as well. Their time as pop stars has passed. In a desperate bid, Rihanna is rushing out another album this summer, after the massive failure of her "Rated R" CD last October. The public is tired of both of them.

Chris Brown

“I ain’t never really did this but right now I need all of my fans help. A lot of radio stations aren’t playing my records. They are not being that supportive and I wouldn’t expect them to. It’s on the fans and what you guys do in your power to bring me back. That’s all I need is you guys and nothing else will do that except for the fans. I don’t know what else to say. It’s nothing else that I can do. I’m doing everything that I need to do. I’m doing me as a person and I’m a better guy. It’s on ya’ll. My singing and my music I do it for you guys and everything else but it won’t be possible if I’m not relevant on the radio and it wouldn’t be possible for me to be an artist if I don’t have the support. I can’t be an underground mixtape artist. That’s where we are. I just want all my fans to help me. I love ya’ll. Peace”.

World's Most Expensive Diamond Sold For $35 Million

A diamond in South Africa

The world's most expensive diamond was sold this week for $35.3 million dollars. It has 507 carats and was unearthed in South Africa. Apparently, my $5 bid was rejected (I'm joking of course).

The Judiciary Report would love to state one has lofty ambitions for this diamond, but you know full well it's just going to end up in some rapper's teeth. Those diamonds are going to be grinning at you on B.E.T.

Diamond Sold for Record Breaking $35.3M

Feb. 26, 2010 - (AP) A 507-carat diamond as big as a chicken's egg sold for $35.3 million, breaking the record for the highest price ever paid for a rough diamond, the supplier said Friday.

The stone- which weighs just over 3.53 ounces - was estimated to be among the world's top 20 high-quality rough diamonds. It was discovered in September at South Africa's Cullinan mine...

New Home Purchases In America Hit Record Low

New home sales in America hit a record low last month, of 309,000, which is a sign indicative of a weak and struggling economy. It is the lowest number since 1963 when the records began. The economic and financial systems are still log-jammed, for such a negative record to be achieved.

Buying a home is considered the American dream and if that has decreased to such low numeric levels, it should send a terrible signal to Washington that things are still amiss in the financial sector and with the American people's collective finances.

However, it is Washington and the current Congress will just interpret it as "Spend More" taxpayer money, which is the wrong answer.

Apart of the problem is unemployment has skyrocketed, many Americans have filed bankruptcy and as a result of financially challenging times, now have bad credit. It is now extremely difficult to buy a home in America with bad credit and or no job.

New home sales hit record low

Wed Feb 24, 2010 1:25pm EST - WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Sales of newly built U.S. single-family homes unexpectedly fell to a record low in January, while mortgage demand for purchases hit a 13-year low last week, fanning fears of renewed housing market weakness.

The Commerce Department said on Wednesday sales dropped 11.2 percent to a 309,000 unit annual rate, the lowest level since records started in 1963, from 348,000 units in December.

It was the third straight monthly drop in new home sales and the largest percentage decline in a year. Analysts, who had expected a 360,000 unit pace, said bad weather was partly to blame and warned of more of the same for February...
